A RESOLUTION TO DO NOTHING
Saratoga Springs City Council’s resolution on police reform violates Executive Order 203, dismissing the majority of the 50-point plan laid out by the Police Reform Task Force.
Over the last seven months, a diverse, Black-led, City Council-appointed task force created a 100 page, 50-point plan designed to reform and reimagine policing, I included extensive community input and was received with broad community support. On March 16th, 2021, just two weeks before Governor Cuomo’s April 1st deadline, City Council released their own resolution that did not acknowledge or accept the majority of the task force’s 50-point plan, and in many cases attempted to modify or weaken the police reform plan.
