Organizers from our capital region are joining numerous local organizations, including the Albany County Central Federation of Labor and the Albany NAACP for a streaming event.
The virtual event will include:
a historical and contemporary look at Dr. King’s legacy.
a documentary titled “Be Alright Be Alright” recounting stories of the sanitation workers, the labor strike that changed the civil rights movement. We will engage on the implications for workers today.
labor and community leaders will engage in a roundtable and neighborhood discussion on the Albany Multi-craft Apprenticeship Preparation Program (MAPP) and the role such labor initiatives play in communities of color, along with ways to improve and expand such initiatives.
