ABOUT THE ART:
Saratoga Arts
is making this art program possible with a Community Arts Grant funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Through the generosity of the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund, the Tang Museum Education team is thrilled to provide free art kits to communities across the Capital Region by working with schools, libraries and community groups like C.R.E.A.T.E. Community Studios. Museum Educator Sunny Ra, who leads the Tang Museum Education team of on-call educators and Skidmore student interns, creates kits that include art-making projects inspired by Tang exhibitions and work in the Tang collection, with all essential materials.

For more questions about the art experiences for the event call:
Julie from C.R.E.A.TE. @ 518-727-7941.

ABOUT THE KIDS:
SEEN (Saratoga Educational Equity Network), in collaboration with C.R.E.A.T.E. Community Studios, is hoping to create a local affinity group for young people ages 10 and up. This event will be an opportunity for young members of our community to come together in the spirit of racial justice and to learn more about affinity groups. We are asking your organization to please spread the word about this JUNETEENTH event to all interested young folks and their families. Please direct all questions to SaratogaEEN@gmail.com.

*What is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth (short for June Nineteenth) is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond. It is a time for reflection and rejoicing. In cities across the country, people of all races, nationalities and religions are joining hands to truthfully acknowledge a period in our history that shaped and continues to influence our society today.  (https://juneteenth.com/)
